A Call for Better Regulation of the Sale of Fireworks
Not Just in Providence, but Statewide
Today I sent a letter to Elizabeth M. Tanner, Director of Rhode Island’s Department of Business Regulations, and to the State Police asking them to join me in a discussion about how the sale of fireworks is being regulated in Providence and statewide.
The nightly firing of these loud and disruptive fireworks is quality of life issue, a fire safety concern, and poses a great threat for potential harm to the people discharging them.
If you are experiencing quality of life issues around these nightly occurrences in your neighborhood, you can file a noise complaint with the Providence Police Department by calling (401) 272-3121; or you can submit a quality of life complaint to PVD311.
