Halloween Safety Tips from the PPD
Keeping the Ward Safe for Our Little Ghosts & Goblins
The Providence Police Department wants kids in the City to have a frighteningly good time this Halloween. They’ve compiled a list of tips that will ensure they’ll have fun while staying safe!
FOR KIDS
Wear reflective bracelets, tape, or carry a flashlight so cars and bikers and see you
Only cross at the crosswalk, with the light and ALWAYS look both ways
Stay on streets and in neighborhoods that you know
Only approach well-lit houses with the porch light on
Stay on the sidewalk whenever possible
FOR PARENTS
Monitor all Halloween goodies your kids bring home
Always have an adult chaperone walking with your kids
Keep all pathways and stairs leading to your home free of obstacles for your visitors
Keep costumes safe. Avoid masks and long dragging costumes that pose tripping hazards
FOR PETS
Keep all candy out of their reach. Chocolate can be very bad for dogs and cats
To avoid biting incidents, keep anxious or aggressive animals away from the action
Be mindful of where you place jack o’ lanterns
